PROJECT PROPOSAL

PROPOSAL FOR ARTWORK:
This will serve as a document that you will create and hand in after you propose its significance, you will then continue to add to this document for a final grade each quarter.  


1.
A. What is your overall idea? Describe your overall idea. What visual references will you use? How do you envision it? Please make sure that you spend some time describing this overall idea and provide visual references (that you may need to create yourself via drawing or collage) a written statement, write it in your book


B. What is the personal relevance to you? a written statement, write it in your book


C.What deeper significance does this work have in the greater context of society, in the world, etc.? What CONTEXTUAL research and consideration have you done regarding your work as this pertains to you in the world today? Why is this work contextually relevant? Please include references and citations. a written statement, write it in your book

D. What Art Historical time frame did you research to contribute to your understanding of your work, explain?

A.What artists have you looked at that help you best to gain insight into how to compose this work materially, technically, conceptually and composition?
At least 3 different artists and multiples of their work. Please include a short BIO of the artist and their ARTIST STATEMENT include citations
Please add works of art (annotated=artist, title, date, media) and discuss IN DEPTH how each will help you to understand how to execute your work more fully and with skill. Continue to attach to this document /add to your book)

B. How is your work culturally significant? What information did you research regarding the media, technique or concept in regards to the ART of OTHER CULTURES? Look and discuss in depth a cultural artwork that relates somehow to your work (materially, technically, conceptually, thematically) outside of your "Western Culture" (Western culture also refers to European Art)? What cultural art have your looked at? (annotate and discuss, attach to this document and add to your book)

A. How many works do you plan to make from this idea what are the possibilities for variation (be specific)?


B. What practice have you done to gain skill? Using at least 3 different media separately, please show the different media in practice in your book. What references did you use to help you? How have you practices your composition choices and how did you come to the conclusion that you've made the best choice for your composition? Show examples here.
C. MUST create sketches and trial even if you’re doing photographs (if multiple works, then each must be composed in sketch/trial first, discuss how each is significant, how each was successful or not and why, please attach a copy of each here and add the originals to your book.

  • TRIALS with different media AND include VISUAL REFERENCES!!!                                                                                  
  •  ELEMENTS TO CONSIDER and Discuss in your trials- LINE, SHAPE, FORM, COLOR, TEXTURE , SPACE- which will be important to your image? 
  •  PRINCIPLES to CONSIDER- What PRINCIPLES do you notice in your sketches Ie. what are you Emphasizing? Where is the Contrast? Are you Repeating anything? Is there Tension? Is there Movement? Why are these helping the composition? How are you considering the subject matter and how does it relate to the context of the whole composition?  WHY?
  • Show the PROCESS of the development of your work and decisions made along the way.
  • Discus any REFINEMENTS you are making within the process of making the artwork.  MUST SHOW REFINEMENT Is your work saying what you want it to say? If not figure out how to make it speak visually and discuss your refinements. 
  • Final Work REFLECTION on and FORMAL ANALYSIS. Include the image of your final work of art and discuss what do you think you did well, did you get your concept across? Did you consider the elements in principles, if so, HOW? and what needs more consideration? What is your formal analysis of the work?
